This week we are reading “Stretching Ourselves” by Alden Carter. We will focus on some vocabulary words in this story. It would be helpful if you will reinforce the meaning of these words at home with your child. Let’s have a great week!

wheelchair a chair on wheels, used by people who are sick or who are unable to walk

Announcements:
1. The GVE Book Fair is November 8th – 12th.
2. Thanksgiving holiday lunch is for Kindergarten and 3rd grade students and parents only.
3. “DIBELS with Dad” is November the 12th (first thing in the morning).
4. The 2nd 6-weeks grading period ends on Friday, November 12th.
5. The next 4-H meeting is November 17th at 1:15 p.m.
6. Don’t forget that you are invited to a presentation of Turkey Takes a Stand on Thursday, November 18th. (Mrs. Allen’s class will perform at 8:15 a.m., and Mrs. Telford’s class will perform at 11:45 a.m.)
7. The 2nd 6-weeks Gator Gala will be on Friday, November 19th. Each participant must work for 40 Gator Bites to attend.
8. Our Thanksgiving holiday break is November 22nd – 26th.
9. Our students of the week are Kyler and Jamya.

Homework:
Monday: Create sentences using each Reading vocabulary word in context. Tuesday: Read this week’s story to a parent aloud.
Wednesday: Discuss the Reader Response questions at the end of the story with a parent.
Thursday: Summarize this week’s story using the 5 W’s. (Who, What, When, Why, and Where)
